In response to new laws, OMB is updating obsolete information security standards, and an increased emphasis on cybersecurity provides a view into federal networks.Government information security is still managed in accordance with directives created before the Department of Homeland Security even existed. In order to keep up with how agencies were handling security, the Office of Management and Budget has been revising its A-130 Circular for the past few years. As the government attempts to implement legislation passed in the final hours of the 113th Congress governing federal network security and IT acquisition, the task is becoming a little more urgent.
